Ghana’s IIPGH Marks Nine Years of Scaling Digital Literacy and ICT Standards

The ninth anniversary of the Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana (IIPGH) serves as a significant milestone for the West African nation’s digital economy, underscoring a shift from informal tech adoption to a structured, standards-driven professional ecosystem. Founded on March 7, 2017, the IIPGH has spent nearly a decade arguing that Ghana’s digital transition will be won or lost on the quality of its human capital. By mobilizing a community of professionals, students, and businesses, the institute has successfully positioned itself as the primary architect of Ghana’s ICT talent pipeline, moving beyond mere advocacy into direct educational intervention.

Central to the IIPGH’s impact is its Academy, which has redefined early-childhood and professional tech education in the region. The launch of the 'Coding for Kids' program in 2018 and the subsequent expansion of the 'Coding in Schools & Communities' initiative demonstrate a scalable model for edtech delivery. By 2019, the program had already established 13 centers across Accra and Takoradi, enabling hundreds of young learners to move from passive consumers of technology to active creators of apps and games.
